Mrs Rose HAWKINS

After several months of falling health, Mrs. Rose Hawkins died at her home 13, Hereford Drive, in the early hours of Friday, Oct 17th. She was 74.

A member of an old Taunton family, Mrs Hawkins left Somerset after her marriage, and went to Wales to live, but after her husband's death in the First World War, she returned to Taunton and settled in Duke Street with her young family of two boys and 3 girls.

Of a friendly and hospitable disposition, the late Mrs. Hawkins was popular wherever she went. She was a member of the Primrose League and was known among members of the R. A. O. B. and their wifes, who's outings she attended regularly.

The funeral was on Tuesday, at St. James Church where the service was conducted by the curate, the Rev. R. W. Oswald. The interment was at St James' Cemetery.

Family mourners were: Mrs. J. Hawkins (son); Mrs. L. Welch (dau); Mr & Mrs. D. Hawkins (son & dau-in-law); Mr & Mrs. G. Jacobs (son-in-law & dau); Mr. R. Welch (grandson); Mr. J. Jacobs (grandson).

The funerals arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. E. White & sons (Taunton), Ltd., East Reach, Taunton.

The family wish to thank the doctor and nurse who attended Mrs. Hawkins during her illness. They also wish to express gratitude to neighbours & friends for their help & kindness.
