Accident –
On Saturday last, an accident happened, which at first appeared likely to be
attended with fatal consequences, to a man named John Lavis,
in the employ of Mr. W. Munckton, who was engaged
hauling pavement and whilst lifting it on the wagon by means of a crane, the
crane broke and fell on Lavis, by which he received a
fracture of the leg and some severe bruises.
Assistance being a t hand he was immediately conveyed to his home, where
medical assistance was soon in attendance, and he is progressing as favourably
as can be expected.
