The town of Sant'Ippolito gets its name from a Roman soldier martyred in 258 in Ostia, near Rome. He and members of his household were ordered by Roman authorities to renounce their Christian faith and refused. They were torn apart alive by wild horses in front of a Roman mob. The town of San Ippolito, once known as Napoli Piccola, got an 18th-century name change after an earthquake destroyed everything except the church of Santo Ippolito.

Prayer to Sant'Ippolito

Italian Version

A SANT'IPPOLITO, MARTIRE

Pater, Ave, Gloria.

Con Approvazione Ecclesiastica
