Southern on my father's side and Northern on my mother's side - I am a blending of two distinctly American cultures. Searching into my family history is an exploration into American social and cultural history. Except for one line - that of my Welsh grandmother, Gertrude James Roselle, the families that make-up my ancestry in this country have been here since (at least) the mid-18th century and most of these date to before the Revolutionary War.

From struggling Yankee farmers and schoolteachers to southern plantation owners and poor dirt farmers my foremothers and forefathers witnessed all of what it meant to shape early Anglo-American life. I have learned so much while searching for their stories and I look forward to learning even more as I connect with other family historians.
