The West Cemetery

Reverand John Arthur West gave the following history of John and Mary KING West.

John and Mary West left Pittsylvania County, Virginia on 16 November 1802 with their five young children and came to Ohio,. They arrived near Sinking Springs, Ohio on 8 February 1803. Just after their arrival, about three weeks, Ohio was admitted into the union as the 17th state. After the first year they bought and built a log home in 1803.

The graveyard is across Baker Fork on Ohio Brush Creek on land that has been owned by the Mc Cleese Family. John and Mary and three of their children who made the journey from Virginia and two other sons that were born in Ohio are buried in the graveyard.
