|
The tombstones of Allen (left photo, foreground, and
right photo) and Rebecca (left photo, behind Allen’s) are located
next to each other, on the first row next to the road.
Because they are broken and lying flat on the ground, they were
nearly overgrown by grass at the time of their discovery in 1969 by
Audrey Hunter, who tripped over Allen’s tombstone and saw the
letters "NTER".
Location of Cemetery from Florence: Route 51
SE for 11 miles - Turn left at cross road and proceed 1.5
miles. Church is on right hand side. |

SACRED

ALLEN HUNTER
Who departed this life
March 6th1869
Aged 83 years 9 months
and 15 days.
Thy body to the grave hast fled,
Thy spirit to the skies;
Thou art now number’d with the dead,
But with the saints shall rise.

Who departed this life
May 11th1871
Aged 70 years 7 months

This lovely one, so good, so true,
