Margit came to New York from Hungary by ship at the age of 13. She lived with the family of the doctor she traveled with in exchange for household chores until she was married at the age of 20.85The ship manifest of the SS Finland indicates that Margit Szabo arrived in New York on October 6, 1903 at the age of 15 with $4, From Hungary, VIA Antwerp. Hungarian name was Margit SZABO.250 Sometime after arriving in New York her name was changed to the English spelling Margaret SABO.85 Her birth record lists her Godparents as her aunt and uncle Erzsebet Kendl, her mother's sister, and Karoly Harn.81 Margaret's Obituary states that she lived in the Clarendon/Barre (NY) area for 80 years until her death.252There is no Father listed on Margit's Birth record and Antal Szabo's Obituary lists Margaret as a half sister.256
