Matthew Elliott was born circa 1820 at Ireland. He was the son of (?) Elliott and Nancy Elliott. Matthew Elliott married Julia Ann Marquis, daughter of Edward Marquis and Elizabeth Newell, on 16 February 1843 at Knox County, Ohio, USA. Matthew Elliott died on 12 May 1856 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA; It is not known why Matthew was in Pennsylvania. The notice of his death was directed to the Sheriff of Knox County, Ohio.1
