ISAAC COON’S LAST WILL

In The name of God Amen.

I Isaac Coon of the County of Fountain and state of Indiana being weak in body but of sound mind and memory knowing the certainty of death and the uncertainty of time and as it hath pleased God to          me with a portion of worldly Estate do constitute and make this my last will and testament in manner following to wit.   First I bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Coon my home farm that is all the proceeds thereof designated as follows to wit the west half of the south East Quarter of section number twenty six in township number twenty north of Range seven containing Eighty acres.  Also the west half of the East half of the South East quarter of section twenty five in township twenty one North of Range seven West containing forty Acres to have and to hold during her natural life time with all my personal goods and chattels after the paying of all my just debts to improve or repair said farm for her own convenience.  Secondly I bequeath to my son Isaac Coon One forty acre lot of land as follows To wit the North East quarter of the North East quarter of Section Twenty six in township twenty north of Range seven West.  Also two hundred dollars of the proceeds of the farm or personal property in the hands of my wife Mary Coon to be paid so soon as convenient without distressing her the same Mary Coon at her death.  Also I bequeath to my son John Coon One hundred dollars.  Also I bequeath to my daughter Rachel McKinney fifty Dollars – These two last sums to be paid as soon as convenient after Isaac receives his two hundred dollars.  Also I bequeath to my grand daughter Frances Wilkinson Ten dollars to be paid out of my estate after the death of her grandmother Mary Coon the residue of my estate after the death of my beloved wife Mary Coon I wish to be divided equally among my sons and daughters to wit Elizabeth Newport, Susaniah Dunwiddie, Margaret Morgan, John L. Coon, Rachel McKinney, William S Coon & Isaac Coon.  These last legacies to my daughters to be solely for them and the heirs of their bodies Lastly I make and appoint my beloved wife Mary Coon Sole Executive of this my Last will and testament with the privilege of calling to her aid such assistance as she may need.  Hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made and ratifying and confirming this my Last will & testament.  In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of June in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty three

Personally came this day William H. Smith one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will before the undersigned clerk of the Probate Court of said County who being duly sworn on his solemn Oath says he saw Isaac Coon sign Seal publish and declare the foregoing instrument as his Last will and testament and that he believes he was of sound mind and memory at the time of the execution thereof and that he signed his name thereto in the presence of the said Testator as a witness at the request of said testator.
