This is as Thomas A. Rutledge published it in Rachel Clemons Book 2 My Rutledge Family. I have added the later details where Tom’s & my line split.
This line starts right at the beginning of the book but, as far as I know, remains unproven for the first couple of spots (again, per the book) Maybe these results will generate renewed interest in those early years.
I had heard a story from my Grandfather. He was told that 3 brothers came over from England. 1 stayed up north in the newly formed MD & the other 2 went south. I always thought that this was just a story to try & include the SC Signers into our northern family history. I never gave it much thought, but maybe the story about the brothers going south is true, they just weren’t the signers. Who knows? :)
