Matilda was born in VA 1734. Matilda was the daughter of Peter King Sr. and Lulu. Matilda died before 1806 in Stokes Co., NC.William Rutledge Sr. and Matilda King had the following children:

- William Rutledge Jr was born ca 1756.
- Peter Rutledge was born in Rowan Co., NC 1758. Peter died aft 1810.
