According to Pauline, the cemetery is run down, some of the stones were removed and lost. The ones that are left can't be read from the erosion of the stones. | ||
| Laura McDowell, whose
mother and father lived on the place remembers some of the names that were
on the stones and said at one time there were twenty to thirty
stones. This is an attempt to recreate the cemetery. Some
information also comes from Mike Young of Hendersonville, TN. He
gave directions to the cemetery as they were given to him by Lula Fain and
Herman Major on 10 Mar 1996. He said he found 22 tombstones written
in script and at least 12 to 13 other hand carved tombstones with emblems,
but no inscriptions.
On 08 Feb 1998, Pauline received additional information from Mrs. Laura McDowell Toombs through her daughter Peggy Toombs Hayes. Anyone who might have pictures from this cemetery can let me know and I will add them. |

| Note from
Teresa: It is a terrible shame that all we have of a nice old
cemetery like this is memories. It is for this reason that Jeff and
I started photographing cemeteries and putting them online. Anyone
who would like to adopt a cemetery can photograph it and mail the pictures
to me at Teresa Ghee Elliott, 14291 Hunter Road, Harvest, AL 35749 and I
will gladly scan them and create a page for you just like I did for
Pauline. I sure do appreciate her work. GenerationGoneBy@bellsouth.net
