The Constables of Flamborough and Everingham descended from Baron Nigell, son of Ivon, who had been given the palatinate and constableship of Chester by William the Conqueror; he was also lord of Flamburgh. His descendants assumed the name de Lacy until one took the name of his office - Constable.

General Notes: Husband - John Easley

John Easley, b. before 1774 (perhaps in 1770)--d. 1841, Hickman Co., TN. m. 1791 Sarah "Sallie" Bush, b. 1774, SC, dau. of Daniel Bush, a Revolutionary soldier who d. 1801 in Franklin Co., GA, and his wife Elizabeth Toney.

According to Manning, John and Sarah (Bush) Easley had at least four sons and one daughter, born between 1790 and 1800. There may have been nine children altogether according to Manning. The family went from SC to GA, to TN, perhaps to MS, to GA, and back to TN. In 1808, John Easley was Trustee of Hickman Co., TN. He may have been the early John Easley, mentioned by Spence in his History of Hickman Co., Tenn., who kept a hotel at Centerville.

Manning, Our Kin, discussed the family in two places: p. 646 in the context of Easleys in Hickman Co., TN, and pp. 766-665 in the context of the Bush family.

Manning, Our Kin, p. 766, stated that Sarah (Bush) Easley d. between 1850 and 1860 U.S. Census, Hickman Co., TN. However, data received from other family researchers in 1998 indicates that Sarah (Bush) Easley may have died much earlier, while John remarried in 1817 in Wilkinson Co., MS, to Sarah/Sally Shones and had a second family. This may account for the troubling discrepancies in the apparent ages of his children reported by James D. Easley, the Mannings, etc.

Gwynn, Zae Hargett. Abstracts of the Wills and Estate Records of Granville County North Carolina 1746-1808. Rocky Mount, NC, Joseph W. Watson, 406 Piedmont Ave., 1973.
p. 81-82. 333,334--Apr. 7, 1782 - no probate date given - Will of Henry Philip Hart - wills to wife for her lifetime all my estate and then to be divided to all my children with the excepting a horse and a chest which goes to my grandson Philip Hart, son of Pleasant Hart; to my grandson John Easley, the chest above mentioned. Exrs: sons, John and Joseph Hart. Wit.: Larkin and Littleton Johnson.

NOTE: Manning, Our Kin, p. 766, states "John Easley owned land in South Carolina 1782, being neighbor of Timothy Toney, as before mentioned, and near Daniel Bush lands." This has the John Easley who married Sarah Bush confused with his uncle, the John Easley who married Ann Gowen.

Franklin Co., GA, 1805. John Easley held 136 acres.

Manning, Our Kin, p. 766. "He either came to Georgia with his father-in-law or soon thereafter. Deed Book H. Franklin Co., Ga. records, shows that he bought two tracts of land, 210 and 300 acres, which joined Daniel Bush property on eastern side and his father-in-law Daniel Bush witnessed the papers. He was appointed Guardian for Daniel's three minor sons when he died, and was relieved of this duty in 1809. He was also appointed on Aug. 4, 1797 first Just of Peace Kilough's District of Jackson County when it was cut off from Franklin, etc. As he and his wife signed papers stating they were from Tennessee, Hickman and Dickson Counties (Dickson oldest . . . Hickman cut off later) 1809 . . . ."

Hickman Co., TN, Deed Book ABC, p. 24, Oct. 17, 1809. William Phillips to William Easley, land cornering on Maj. John Easley. 16.6 acres.

Hickman Co., TN. Registered July 2, 1812, dated July 22, 1811. From John Gray Blount of Buford Co., NC, by Willie Blount his attorney to John Easley of Hickman Co., TN. 253 acres. consideration $506. Easley, Allen, served in War of 1812 from Hickman County, TN, 1814.
