A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in The Old Church for Edward R. Hall of Southwest Portland.
Mr. Hall, chairman of Management Compensation Group NW, died of cancer in a Portland-area hospital on Christmas Day at the age of 52.
Mr. Hall was born Aug. 7, 1939, in Kalamazoo, Mich., and grew up in Astoria. He received a law degree from the University of Oregon in 1964 and a master's degree in taxation two years later from New York University.
Mr. Hall worked as tax attorney in Portland for many years but later led MCG NW to national recognition in the field of executive compensation and benefits. At the same time, his family notes, he became known as a compassionate and exuberant man who displayed a strong sense of social justice.
Survivors include his wife, Missy Vaux; sons, Malek J. Hall, Edward Joseph Hall and Seth Wilkinson, all of Portland; and sisters, Susan M. Hall of Lake Oswego and Sara Crawford of Aurora.
Interment will be private.
The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Edward R. Hall Scholarship Fund at the Oregon Community Foundation.
