Helen HENDRY was born in Duffus, Morayshire, Scotland on September 4, 1810 to James HENDRY and Jean KEIR. After her mother died young, she was raised by her grandparents Andrew KEIR and Lilias GRAY in Kinloss, Scotland. In about 1834, she immigrated with her sole remaining brother to Canada where she met Andrew. Andrew and Helen were married in Quebec City on December 19, 1834 at St. John's Presbyterian.
      Andrew and Helen were in Montreal in 1836, immigrated to the USA in 1837, lived in Burlington, VT in 1838, were in Plattsburgh, NY in 1840, and were in Vergennes, VT from 1841 to 1845. Andrew and Helen bought land in Jefferson County, WI in 1845 and lived there the rest of their lives. Two of Andrews' brothers, Charles and James also immigrated to the USA. Helen's brother James HENDRY moved to Eastern Ontario and raised a family there.
      Andrew and Helen had 1 son, James Hendry, and 9 daughters (wow!) Jane LEWIS, Agnes MCVEAN, Jeanette THOMPSON, Helen SHEPHARD, Elizabeth, Hannah BROWNE, Caroline RANDLE, Babe, and Eva WEGG.
