Jacob Ruppert was born in Baltimore City in 1840, the first American-born son of Joseph and Katharina Weitzel Ruppert. This signature was obtained from an 1862 bounty application for Elisabeth Schade, mother of Jacob Schade. Ruppert signed the bounty as a witness
