Reynolds [sic] Lewis [sic] Ruedger, oldest son of John and Margaret Ruedger, was bon in Chicago, IL September 6, 1861 and passed away at his farm home north of Carson City [MI} May 12, 1943, at the age of 81 years.
He was united in marriage to Miss Frances Foster at the home of her parents in Roberts, IL November 30, 1888. To this union were born twelve children, eight sons and four daughters, one son preceding him in death at infancy in 1904 and one daughter, Mrs. Martha Waldron in 1931. Surviving are the widow, Frances, seven sons, John, Belias, Clark, Mark, Joe, and Martin of Carson City, Wallace of Monrovia, CA, and three daughters, Mrs. F. M. Blome of Kenney, IL, Mrs. Roy Lance and Mrs. Harold Duerr of Carson City, a brother, John of Spooner, WI, and 21 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The first ten years of their married life they lived on a farm near Roberts, IL, and in the next five years the family moved twice, living in Cissna Park, IL, four years and Kokomo, IN, one year. After which the family decided to move to Michigan where for the 39 years they have resided on their farm five miles north of Carson City.
Mr. Ruedger held life membership in the Mt. Gilead F and AM lodge of Crystal and was a member of the Butternut Grange. He was also an efficient and prosperous farmer, and served as supervisor for Crystal Township eleven years.
Besides this widow and children he leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his death.
Funeral services were held at the Gunther Funeral Home Saturday at 2 pm May 15, 1943. Rev. L. E. Dull of Maple Rapids conducted the services. Interment was mead in the Carson City cemetery.
