My grandfather Micheal Rourke (or O'Rourke) was born in
Castlegregory, Co Kerry in the late 1860's. His father (my
g.grandfather) was Seamus 'Rourke. Micheal was the seventh son of
Seamus, and he himself had seven sons (of whom my father - Terence
was the seventh). Micheal lived in Britain and Ireland variously
over the first three decades of his life, but eventually settled in
Forest Gate in the east of London. Of his seven sons, only three
survived to adulthood, and of those only my father - the youngest -
is still alive.
Our (rather sketchy) contemporary family tree is as follows -

I'm wondering if there is a connection for my Ohio O'Rourke's?
Carolyn Frances MCDONALD married Charles O'ROURKE in Cinti., OH.
Children: Cathleen Rose, Michael, Jay, Robert, Theresa, Shawn & Gail.
Other than they lived in Cinti, OH around 1956 I know nothing of Charles
O'Rourke. It would be most interesting to find a connection for him.

My great-great grandfather was Jeremiah O'ROURKE, born in 1814 near
Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland. He had sisters Mary and Elisabeth.
His parents were Eugene O'ROURKE and Elisabeth HAYES. Jeremiah and
Elisabeth came to St. Louis, Mo. around 1850, and he married Mary FOLEY,
also from Ireland, in 1853 at the Old Cathedral in St. Louis. I would
like more information regarding the family back in Ireland. Per church
records there, the O' was not used, but it was in the U.S. At the time
of Jeremiah's birth, the family was living in Rathdrinah Townland, which
was in the civil parish of Killarney. - Bob O'Rourke

I am trying to find descendants of Bryant and Mary O'ROURKE.
They are my GG Grandparents. They were residents of Charleston, SC.
Bryant died in December, 1868 at the age of 40, Mary died in June 1870 at
the age of 33. They had several children. The children were placed in
orphanages. I had always been told by my grandmother that I had relatives
in New Orleans. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am researching Francis O'Rourke my Great Great Grandfather who
presumably died in County Leitrim prior to 1855 when his wife Ann O'Rourke
(nee Enright?) came to Australia with her son Timothy - Shipping records
show her being 42 years old and her son being 22 years old on their arrival.
Her older son John had arrived in Australia a little earlier - say between
1850 and 1855 and sponsored their voyage out to Australia. Timothy and his
mother are buried in Bright, Victoria, Australia and John is buried in
Harrietville, Victoria, Australia. Timothy was my Great Grandfather.

My name is John O'Rourke V (the fifth). The origin of my name is as
follows: John O'ROURKE married to Jane BYRNE; John O'Rourke married to
Louise CHABERNET (sp?); John O'Rourke married Gladys ENRIGHT; John O'Rourke
married Helen BREEN, and I am John O'Rourke who married Cathy QUAIN. I am
looking for a geneaology of the O'Rourke family history. I know that we
came to California around 1850. For several generations we were in South
San Francisco. Our great-great-aunts were founders of Pacific Rolling
Door. Rumor has it that one of the original O'Rourkes may have made his
way through Canada. We can most definitely trace our family history back
to Australia, where we were exiled, or imprisoned; let's say for "stealing
sheep." I am most interested in hearing stories of O'Rourke family history
similar to mine. Please forward any relevant information to John O'Rourke.
(johno@spacelab.net) Any inquiries will be answered in a prompt manner.
thank you.

I'm trying to find any information about a Patrick O'RORKE (b. about 1792)
previous to his arrival in the US. He left County Cavan in 1838 and
eventually settled in Rochester, NY. Married to Mary McGuire (b. about
1800). They had seven children, all born in Ireland except the youngest:
Thomas, Myles, Bernard, Anne, Mary, Patrick Henry, and Bridget. Patrick
Henry is the Colonel Patrick O'Rorke of Civil War fame, listed elswhere on
this O'Rourke web site. I'd also be interested in any information about the
descendents of Patrick O'Rorke.
