WAR OF 1812

(83) THOMAS5 STANCLIFF (Stanbrough Perigrene4, James3, William2, James1)

Son of Stanbrough Perigrene and Sibbel [Davis] Stancliff born August 27, 1788, baptized Dec. 30, 1792 sponsored by Johannes and Anna Snell. Perry Stancliff said he died during the War of 1812 in the service of the United States.

 

(85) PERRY STANCLIFF (Stanbrough Perigrene4, James3, William2, James1)

Son of Stanbrough Perigrene and Sibbel [Davis] Stancliff born Aug. 20, 1792, baptized Dec. 30, 1792 sponsored by Conrad and Margaretha Zimmerman of Manhiem, Montgomery County, NY, died during the War of 1812 in the service of the United States.

 

JOEL5 STANCLIFT (Samuel4, Comfort3, James2, James1)

Son of Samuel and Olive [Balcom] Stanclift baptized Norfolk, Litchfield County, CT Oct. 16, 1791.

There is an index of War of 1812 Volunteer Soldiers(1) that contains two references to Joel or "Jeel" as serving in Dobbin's 18th Regt of NY Militia as a private during the War of 1812. The National Archives could not find a Pension records for any the Stanclift men on that index, and the pension may be at the State level.


(162) SETH5 STANCLIFT (Lemuel4, Comfort3, James2, James1)

Son of Lemuel and Mehitable [Goff] Stanclift born while the family was living in Sangerfield, NY Tuesday, Jan. 1, 1793(2).

Seth had records of three tours of duty in the Pennsylvania Militia during the War of 1812. He served July 30, 1812 through Sept. 2, 1812 in Capt John Morris' Company of Pennsylvania Militia attached to the command of Major James Hall, Regiment commanded by Brigadier General John Kelso. Followed by service Apr. 24, 1813 through May 5, 1813 in Capt. Warren Foot's Company of Militia doing duty at Erie by order of Major General David Mead, Major Charles Martin Commanding. He also served Jan. 3, 1814 through Feb. 5, 1814, and in this tour of duty he was termed a Corporal, in A Pennsylvania Militia Company of Zelotes Lee of the 17th Regiment commanded by John C. Wallace under order of Major General Mead.(3)

(166S2) LUDIM CROUCH ( Philenia5 Stanclift ,Lemuel4, Comfort3, James2, James1)

Husband of Philenia Stanclift. Born 1792, died Wesleyville, Erie County, PA Feb. 8, 1872 Æ 80 years(4). Married before 1825 Philenia5 Stanclift.

Ludim served in the War of 1812 in Capt John Dix's Company 8th Regiment of New York State Militia.
