He was the former husband of Virginia V. (Frey) Kocher and Ruby J. (Buss) Kocher. He was a mechanic at the former Penn Dixie Cement Co., Plant 4, Nazareth for 32 years until retiring. He was also the owner of The Timberwolf, East Allen Township, for 10 years. Born in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Lewis and Mary (Rodger) Kocher. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a life member of American Legion Post 470, Bath; American Legion Post 415, Nazareth; Point Phillips Rod and Gun Club and Raccoon Club of East Allen Township. Survivors: Former wives; daughters, Sandra Doncses of Nazareth and Bonnie L. Kocher of Allentown; sons, John E. of Moore Township and Roy G. of Nazareth; brothers, William E. and Sherwood, both of Bath, Raymond of Palmerton and Lewis L. of Forks Township; sisters, Mildred Frey of Easton, Dorothy Hess of Nazareth and Emily Baggest of Palmer Township; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Ernest F., and a daughter Sharon. Military services: 11 a.m., Saturday, George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Moorestown. Call 7:30-8:30 p.m. Friday.".

He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Belfast. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving with his widow are a daughter Helen, wife of Barry Kale of Egypt; four sons, Elwood Jr. of Jacobsburg, Richard and Gary, both of Wind Gap, and Robert of Saylorsburg; five sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Hauser, Mrs. Franklin Fogel and Mrs. August Baggest, all of Nazareth, and Mildred Fry and Mrs. Frank Hess, both of Easton; five brothers, John of Nazareth, William and Sherwood, both of Bath, and Raymond of Palmerton and Lewis Jr. of Easton, and eight grandchildren. Military services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Bensing Funeral Home, Moorestown. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.".
