Misc. Notes
Hoyt states according to GR 1885, pg 291, apparently on the authority of Somerby, that the two William Sargents of Amesbury and Charlestown were brothers, and sons of Richard Sargent of London. The eldest son, William, held a position in the navy, was left behind in Virginia, where he married his first wife, Judith Perkins, and had by her two daughters. His parents, supposing him to be dead, gave the name William to a child of subsequent birth. This William afterwards came to Charlestown, in this country. [764] Merrill [770] gives nearly the same story.

Misc. Notes
Had three daughters: Lydia, Sarah, who must have died young, and Mary. Hoyt states that he was unable to verify Judith's marriage to William Sargent from any original source. [761]
