35. Aaron Joseph Smith [scrapbook] 1 (Aaron Smith , Richard (W.) , Gabriel D. ) was born 4 Aug 1864 in , , Georgia. He died 30 Aug 1939 in Munday, Knox, Texas and was buried in Munday, Knox, Texas.

In October 1999 Angie Smith said "I talked with Josephine Daniels Sunday nite. According to her (Ezra's daughter) AJ & Ollie Mae was living with her family (that being Ezra's family) in Cleburne, TX. AJ and Ezra had a 'falling out' and AJ went to Smith Co, TX to live with Aaron Benjamin and Winnie. He left Ollie Mae behind because she was sick. He went back later to bring Ollie Mae to Winnie's house. While living with Aaron B and Winnie, AJ answered an ad in the newspaper that Dora Brown had run looking for a husband."
Clara Smith said that Dora had twelve children when she married AJ Smith.
Angie later said "I don't believe AJ moved his family to Munday; I think they were raised in Tillman Co, Ok - didn't move there until after 1903. In the 1900 census the family was in Cullman Co (Pct 7, Dermind) Ala. Arzo claimed to have been born in Mineola, Wood Co, TX (next county over from Smith Co (Lindale)). AJ moved to Munday after he answered an ad in the newspaper where Dora Brown was looking for a husband."
The following stories were told by Mrs. Josephine Daniels, daughter of Ezra David Smith, to Angie Smith:
Odelia, Fanny and Georgia were married in Oklahoma and sprung their guys out of jail. The guys were in jail for "horse theifing." Grandpa Smith said "The devil or the God one had an ill will toward me and paid me off in sorry sons-in-law."
Grandpa Smith was a hard shell Baptist and he was very strict with the raising of his children. He had bought a new pair of black socks that he was planning on wearing to church on Sunday. Saturday evening, Leonard, Arzo and Leonard Brown (his step son) filled the new black socks with ashes from the stove. There was to be a foot washing at church and when Grandpa Smith removed his socks his feet were covered in soot and ash. He was so mad and embarrassed. By the time he returned home his three boys had left home in haste. They took off for east Texas to hid out with relatives until Grandpa was over his mad spell; they were gone for six months.
Aaron married (1) Georgia Emma Simms 1 on 30 Oct 1882 in , Carroll, GA.. Georgia was born 2 Feb 1864 in , , Georgia. She died 15 Aug 1910.
The LDS Ancestral File lists her name Georgia A. Sims. That source also indicated her marriage date as 30 Oct 1882.
According to to Clara Smith, widow of Chester Leonard Smith, Aaron Joseph Smith's wife was Emma Luella Simms, born 2 Feb. 1964 and died 15 Aug 1910.
Angie Smith, who is married to a grandson of Erastus Smith, says her name is Georgia Emma Simms.
For now, I will use Georgia Emma Simms.
They had the following children:
+ 38 M i Erastus Frazier Smith was born 17 Nov 1883 and died 25 Aug 1968. + 39 M ii Ezra David Smith was born Mar 1887. 40 F iii Odelia A. Smith [scrapbook] 1 was born Sep 1889 in , , Georgia.
Odelia and Will had no children. They lived in San Diego in the 40s and owned the land upon which one of the two stadiums was built. Odelia gave up title to the property to the state of California because Will went into a state institution.Odelia married Will Smith.
Will Smith was quite a story teller. I (RCL) remember a family visit to San Diego in the mid-1940s listening to Will telling a tall tale while I happened to be reading the same story in one of his pulp magazines.+ 41 F iv Rhoda Viola Smith was born 12 Oct 1891 and died 11 Nov 1961. + 42 F v Fannie O'Neal Smith was born 19 Jun 1894 and died before 1980. + 43 F vi Georgia Luella Smith was born Feb 1897 and died Aug 1986. + 44 M vii Aaron Benjamin Smith was born 18 Oct 1899 and died 29 Jan 1934. + 45 M viii Chester Leonard Smith was born 17 Feb 1902 and died 7 Mar 1981. + 46 M ix Arzo Jordan Smith was born 10 Sep 1904 and died Jan 1977. 47 F x Orra Anna Smith 1 was born 10 Sep 1904 in Lindale, Smith, Texas. She died in Died young. 48 F xi Ollie May Smith [scrapbook] 1 was born 13 Sep 1909 in Frederick, Tillman, Oklahoma.
Clara Smith says Ollie May did not have children.
