2nd and last Prince Higashi-Fushimi-no-Miya [3.2.1903] - [27.6.1922]
Seventeeth son, he was adopted into the Yamashina-no-miya household in 1869, followed by the Komatsu-no-miya house in 1885, and succeeded to the Hihashifushimi title in 1903; he was educated at the Imperial Japanese Naval Academy briefly, at Dartm outh Royal Naval College and graduated from the French Naval Academy in 1890, he saw combat duty in the First Sino-Japanese War, and became second-in-command of the battleship Fuso on 12th December 1901, and Captain of the Chiyoda on 12th January 1905, he later captained the vessels, Takachiho and the Kasuga. In 1906, he joined the Naval Staff Board, promoted to Rear Admiral on 1st December 1909, promoted to Vice-Admiral on 31st August 1913, and Admira l on 2nd July 1918, he was given the posthumous title of Fleet Admiral on his death on 27th June 1922. He was awarded the Order of the Golden Kite (3rd Class) for his service during the Russo-Japanese War. He and his wife represented Emperor Meij i at the coronation ceremonies of King George V of Great Britain (30th June 1911).
