(20th) King of Hanthawaddy Pegu [xx.8.1550] - [xx.1.1551], a former Buddhist monk, he first raised a rebellion in 1549 during the reign of King Tabinshwehti of Toungoo, who was soon assasinated by Smim Sawhtut, and who proclaimed himself Kin g of Pegu, Smim Htaw raised an army and defeated Sawhtut near Pegu in August 1550 and immediately proclaimed himself King, though he too, never controlled any territory of significance, his rule lasted six months till January 1551 when he was defe ated by Bayinnaung in single combat and lost, he was on the run till he was captured and executed.
