16th King of Hanthawaddy Pegu 1472/1492, a former Buddhist monk, he was educated in the kingdom of Ava, and is considered one of the most enlightened rulers in Burmese history; he became king under the title of Ramadhipati in 1457; he became th
e heir to the throne in 1460; he was a trusted adviser to Queen Shin Sawbu, after his marriage in 1460 to her elder daughter, and who handed over all administrative duties to him; during his rule, the kingdom, was peaceful, and profited greatly fr
om foreign commerce; it also became a famous centre of Theravada Buddhism; a collection of his rulings, Dhammazedi Pyatton, still survives.
