8th King of Hanthawaddy Pegu 1348/1384, he was known as Hsinbyushin (Lord of the White Elephant) because he possessed a white elephant, considered to be a great status symbol; he repaired the Shwedagon Pagoda in 1362; he later faced a rebellio n by his brother around 1365, then by a cousin in 1369; he had tried to return to the previous capital of Martaban, but rebellions and an invasion by the King of Lan Na, forced him to return to Pegu, where there was more family quarrelling, thi s time with his eldest son who was anxious to ascend the throne, and who had raised a rebellion in May 1383, Binnya Nwe marched to Pegu and met little resistance as Binnya U was deathly ill, and died at this time.
