Katherine inherited the right to bear her father's arms. Her father being Sir Thomas Peverel. Both of Sir Hugh Peverel's two sons were already dead.

The sons being Sir Thomas Peverel and Sir John Peverel. This made an armiguous heiress out of Katherine Peverell. Thus the Southern Peavy researcher who has a strong passed down heritage that "we come from the one whose sister married Royal" fits in here like glove.
