King Clodio lived in Dispargum which was probably the name of a castle instead of a village. Clodio invaded the territory of Artois about 431. Aetius, the commander of the Roman army in Gaul (France - Western Roman Empire) defeated Clodio near Hesdin. Clodio then regrouped and seized Cameracum. He then occupied all the country to the Somme River. He made Tornai the capital of the Salian Franks. Because of Clodio's aggression, his successors continued to expand and created the country that we know as France. Clodio died about 447 and his son, Merovaeus was his successor.
