King Edred succeeded his brother, King Edmund I, in 946 as King of Wessex. He had great military success over the Vikings as his brothers did. He was very religious but in very poor health. He could barely eat his food and he died on 23 Nov 955 at Frome, Somerset, England.

After his death, his nephew, Edwy succeeded him.
