Cynric was King of Wessex from 534 to 560. He was the son of Crioda and grandson of Cerdic.
He captured Old Sarum which is near Salisbury in 552. Cynric and his son Ceawlin
won a battle against the Britons in 556 at Beranburh which is now Barbury Camp.

Cerdic and his son Cynric took the Isle of Wight in 530 and killed many men in Carisbrook.
After his father's death in 534, Cynric gave the Isle of Wight to his nephews, Stuff and Wihtgar.

Cynric and his son Ceawlin fought with the Britons in Beranbury in 556.

Cynric must have died about 560 as his son Ceawlin began to rule the government of the West Saxons in 560.
