STANFORD HALL

Stanford Hall is a stately home in Leicestershire near the town of Lutterworth.

Ancestral home of the Cave family, ancestors of the present owner Nicholas Fothergill, since 1430. In the 1690s, Sir Roger Cave commissioned the Smiths of Warwick to demolish the old Manor House and build the present Hall, for Sir Roger Cave on the same site of the earlier manor house. It is considered a fine example of William and Mary period architecture.

The River Avon flows through the grounds.
