Buckfast Abbey is located in Buckfastleigh, Devon. There is only a small number of active monasteries in Britain today. Buckfast is one of them. It was dedicated to Saint Mary in 1018 and run by the Cistercian order from 1147 until the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Now it is a Benedictine foundation.
