TREMATON CASTLE

Cornwall, England

Trematon and Burraton were saxon settlements in the 1000's. The Normans built a motte and bailey castle shortly after the 1066 conquest. It was located one and half miles southeast of Trematon village which was a strategic postion.

With each generation this castle was a defense for the people. The walls show battle marks over time. It has survived through many generations.

Reginald de Valle Torta was Lord of Trematon Castle. The ruins of Trematon Castle can still be seen between St. Germans and Saltash.
