I believe Uncle Joe was her second husband, but I am not sure. She was a lovable person and always seemed to have a smile on her face. When you needed a comforting word or a word of wisdom, she was always ready to provide it. I believe she was older than her sister, Effie Maude Jackson, and out lived her. It was Aunt Clary who provided my wife, Norma (Rinckey) Rowe with the information on the Jackson and Weaver families. -- Ernest P. Rowe, Jr., 6/16/1994 Parents: Nathan Hollister Jackson and Marion Evangeline Clare Weaver.

The following comments are from my observations of Maude (Jackson) Ludwig during the three year period that I had the good fortune to know her, after marrying her granddaughter, Norma Rinckey, March 10, 1949. "Grandma Maude," as she was called by her grandchildren, passed away in June 1952. (Ernest P. Rowe, Jr., 15 August 1996)

Maude Jackson (she did not use her first name of Effie) was a very dedicated wife and housekeeper. Although modest, her home was always clean, neat and orderly. An excellent cook and knew well how to make tasty meals with wild game. She was socially well liked and was an active member of the Grange. As I recall she liked to play cards and played regularly with a group of lady friends, although I don't recall what card games they played. Pinochle was a popular game in that area. She enjoyed sewing and and knitting and similar crafts and, I believe, was a member of a quilting circle.

During the harvest season, she worked at the canning factory at Central Lake, MI, a village about 15 miles north of Bellaire. During the few years that I knew her, she was never a person to be idle. She and her husband were both frugal, but efficient, in their spending habit. Clothing and household items were well cared for and, when necessary and possible, were repaired before being discarded and replaced.

She impressed me as a very congenial and likable person who could impart sound, grassroots wisdom when asked, or needed, to resolve problems or matters of concern.
