Each of these generations are rife with names of
Gideon, Gilbert, George, William and Nathan.
Please be very careful of their names, dates and families.

Note that William Gibson who had children with Mary Adams Napper
- their son William married a Mary Napper.
Note that William Gibson in his will named Nathan Napper, but in the 1823 probate, Nathan was Nathan Gibson.
In a Deed dated September 10, 1830 Nathan Nappier is named in the Will but signs it Nathan Gibson.

Below is my typed transcription of the Will of William Gibson, 18th of January 1823
Probated November 10, 1823
Will Book 6, p. 11 (sewn book)

 

In the name of God Amen.

I William Gibson of Louisa County do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form following to wit: It is my will and desire that all my children hereafter named that is to say, Salley Napper, Loucy Napper, Nathan Napper, Lightfoot Napper, George Napper, Richard Napper, Stepen Napper, William Napper and Burrell Napper together with their mother Mary Adams Napper do each of them as above named receive one full and equal portion of my Est. both real and personal to them and each of their heirs and assigns forever and that the whole of my estate of whatsoever kind be kept together until my youngest son Burrell Napper arrives at an age to justify his chosing a Guardian which and not until then the division of my estate to take place. In Confirmation of which I again declare this to be my last will and Testament in witness whereof I have requested my name to be subscribed to the same. I do further Constitute and appoint my son Nathan Napper my executor to this my will in full revocation of all other wills heretofore made. As witness my hand and seal this the 18th of January 1823.

At a Court held for Louisa County of the 10th day of November 1823.

The last will and Testament of William Gibson and was this day presented in open Court and proved by the oaths of Thomas Wash Dickenson Wash and Wm. Wash the witnesses thereto and by the Court ordered to be accorded. And on the Motion of Nathan Napper Gibson the executor therein named who made oath as the Law directs and together with approved security entered into and acknowledged bond in the penalty of $5000 conditioned accordingly to law. Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
