Map below.

At Boswell Tavern Intersection of 22 and 15 (Boswell Tavern is no longer in existence), I ran into a gentleman who said that his son had bought a piece of property on the west side of Forest Hill Road adjoining a Gibson woman's property. He described the property that several Gibson's still owned as being on the west side of Forest Hill Road. He said that there was a Gibson that still lived in this same area. He gave this Gibson's age as being about 75 and gave his first name. He also said that the Downing lived nearby or adjoined his son's property.

At the intersection of Forest Hill Road and Hwy. 33 is the Forest Hill Road Church. In death records it states that George Gibson died at Forest Hill. I went to the cemetery of the Forest Hill Church and found some gravestones of Gibson's and Sprouse's. The older gravestones were mainly just stubs. It was sad to see the gravestones in such disrepair. There is no way of reconstructing who lies under these stubs of stone (green from layers of mold). Unless there is a church record including the Gibson family, there is little way of finding if any of my ancestors are buried in this churchyard cemetery versus being buried on their own land. I have no information that they attended this church, nor information that would lead me to believe that it was a separate cemetery from the church where townspeople were buried.

As you continue down Forest Hill Road, not too far from Hwy 33, Forest Hill Road becomes Shenandoah Crossing Road. I believe the beginning of Shenandoah Crossing Road is probably at the point where the road makes a "nose" on the map. Shenandoah Crossing Road runs into the body of water, gray on this map, Isaak Lake. At the "nose" point on Forest Hill Road one can go no further because it is now Shenandoah Crossing Resort and is a gated community. The guard there knew nothing of any landmarks except that he stated there was a lake in the area. I assume he was referring to Isaak Lake. Regarding finding any way into the area of Shenandoah Crossing from the west side, it is impossible by land. You cannot reach it by going the Old CC Road so I am told. The area that includes Oakmont Drive is only reachable thru the gated Shenandoah Crossing Resort. It is my opinion that the Gibson Mill is probably at the mouth of Lickinghole Creek where it was probably dammed up to make the Isaak Lake. The lines of this map where there are no street names are creeks and rivers, with the exception of the Oakmont Drive streets. It is difficult after even being there to reconcile these two maps.

I didn’t take pictures of the land to the west of Forest Hill Church and Forest Hill Road which is proably the old Gibson property. I did take a picture of the Forest Hill Church and a few gravestones, but I don't know who they are.

The trees are dense and the land while not pristine is unattended. It looks to me that there is no property developed on the west side of the road all the way to the Resort although the gentleman said there was a Gibson who did live in that area.

TUCKAHOE INDIANS

The gentleman I met at Boswell Tavern intersection said that there was a Tuckahoe Creek that ran through the Gibson property. This gentleman said with a smile something like this, "You know there's a Tuckahoe Creek on the Gibson property," I decided to check my maps further, USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Midlothian, Topozone, Terra, VDOT and AAA. The closest Tuckahoe Creek that I could find is on the Midlothian USGS Map at the intersected corners of Goochland, Chesterfield, and Powhatan counties 37.565 77.654. If this Tuckahoe Creek flows to Louisa County, I see no indication of it.

On meeting the next year with a cousin knowledgeable who grew up around of all the Gibson property, is a Gibson himself, has never heard of a Tuckahoe Creek.

Regarding the Tuckahoe's definition; description; location; town, village or waterway; family; tribe; history;, rootsweb lists; I have spent countless hours in dialog and researching possibilities of exactly what Tuckahoe means to various historians and researchers. There are an infinite variety of stories and opinions.

Referring to my own distant cousin's referral to a Gibson relative (of the Gibson Mill ancestors) she related a story to me that a child had come home from school after discussing the Indians in a class that day and asked her mother if they were "Tuckahoe Indians" and her mother smiled and said "Yes."

Also, referring to research with a distant cousin in the Gilmer-Doddridge counties area, (where my gg grandmother Eliza Gibson relocated from Louisa County, VA) he says that there were "Tuckahoe" in the area and I believe he said that my relatives (paternal or maternal, I don't know) were considered Tuckahoe.

We did an exhaustive research regarding this, but I never did turn up anything regarding "Tuckahoe" applying to my relatives on my maternal side (Gibson.) I believe that he was not referring to the WV Guineas who are considered my relatives on my paternal side (Croston, Dorton/Dalton, Pritchard).

Roger, Two Knife said in an email:

My people were the Shawnee, Blackfoot, Cherokee,
Tuckahoe and others.

I have researched the people named Tuckahoe and have
come to this conclusion from everything I have found.  Tuckahoe was not
the name of a tribe or nation of Indians.  It was applied to mostly
Indians for several reasons that I have found.  Usually a band of
Indians who ate a tuberose pithy like potato that we call "Old Man 'O'
The Woods".  They were referred to as Tuckyhoe as a lower class of
people by other Indian tribes.  There was also a Tuckahoe River and
there is still a place in VA called Tuckahoe.  And it's inhabitants
years ago being Indians were referred to as Tuckyhoe.  There are two
instances where this reference was made of my family but I think it was
more of a description of a type of Cherokee or other Indian tribe.
Something like some people might call West Virginians..Hillbillies

Forest Hill Road becomes Shenandoah Crossing at about the "nose." Directly to the south of the gray "Lake Isaak" I believe the line is Lickinghole Creek. On other maps to the north of the Lake before the lake is shown on the map, Lickinghole Creek continues north.

"The Gibson family probably descended from Elizabeth Chavis. On 28 March 1672 she made a successful petition to the General Court of Virginia to release her son Gibson Gibson who had been unlawfully bound by Berr. Mercer to Thomas Barber, who had gone to England leaving the boy with Samuel Austin [Minutes of the Council 1670-76, 106, Virginia Historical Society Mss 4V81935a2; McIlwaine, Minutes of the Council, 302-3]."
