This is not true.
There are people who still believe it and want to believe it

George Thomas Faris m. Mary Ann Sheets, a native of near West Milford, Harrison Co. She died at age 47.
Their chidren were Samuel S., Harriet, Rachel, Byrd, John and Ellen Faris.

Samuel S. Faris b. September 5, 1855 on his father's farm a mile and a half southeast of Bridgeport, WV.
He married on December 24, 1856 Sallie Davidson, b.Taylor Co., WV. Her father John Davidson d. 1892, was a miller in Bridgeport. Her mother, Cornelia Hurry Davidson d. 1894. They had 9 children.
