DNA TESTS

There are 3 basic and different types of DNA tests that I am aware of
and the information below is my opinion.

1) mtDNA
2) Y - men
3) DNA Print

mtDNA

This mtDNA is passed from Mother to her children. Mother's female child will pass it onto her children. But Mother's male children will not pass on Mother's mtDNA. In this test, males are excluded.

Y-dna

This Y-DNA is passed from Father to his children. Father's male child will pass it onto his children. But Father's female children will not pass on Father's Y-DNA. In this test, females are excluded.

DNA Print

DNA Print will show different results on siblings even though they have the same set of parents.
Each of the children exhibits their own unique proportionality.

Since random processes (recombination and independent assortment) at inception determines the mixings and pairings one harbors, two offspring from a set of parents may have different sets of chromosome pairs, and therefore different ancestral proportions even though they were the product of the same male-female union.

DNA Print tests will only show what you, and only you, have inherited from all of your ancestors.

Here is my probable racial makeup based upon my thorough research
which will show that I can
only do a DNA-Print Test.

Mother's Mother's Mother White/Germany
Mother's Mother's Father White/Germany
Mother's Father's Mother White/England
Mother's Father's Father Mixed
Father's Mother's Mother White
Father's Mother's Father Mixed
Father's Father's Mother White/German
Father's Father's Father White/German

In my case, I cannot do a test for mt-DNA and expect it to turn out with anything other than 100% European, since my mother's mother is German.

My father's father's ancestors are German also, so a male sibling's Y-DNA test would not show anything other than 100% European.

I am left without an ability to do a mt-DNA test to determine positively any racial component that would be shown,
other than my doing the DNA Print.

It will answer many questions you have.

DNAPrint genomics, Inc., 900 Cocoanut Ave, Sarasota,FL 34236
Phone: 941.366.3400, Fax: 941.952.9770

In their FAQ, they say:

The current BGA test that DNAPrint is offering, the ANCESTRYbyDNA 2.0 test, is expanded to provide information on the proportions of ancestry on the continental level for most continents, Native American, Indo-European (which includes European, Middle Eastern and South Asian groups such as Indians), African, but we distinguish ancestries within Asia and the Pacific Rim by adding East Asian, (which includes the Pacific Islanders) as an additional group.

Since there will also be interest in defining the levels of ancestry within continents (such as distinguishing Japanese from Chinese, or Northern European from Middle Eastern), DNAPrint is in the process of developing a new series of Ancestry Informative Markers that will provide more insight into where within a particular continent a persons’ ancestors were most likely derived. This test, ANCESTRYbyDNA 3.0 is expected to be available later in 2003.

My DNA Print results from ANCESTRYbyDNA 2.0
for myself are
100% Indo-European
