May have arrived in America about 1749 (need passenger list) from ____. They lived
in Pennsylvania until the 1770s.
The revolutionary war found them supporting the patriot side. They moved to Tennessee
about 1783. Tradition has it that they went to the church on the old Salem Road near
Parrottsville. This is the O'Havers Chapel. There is a cemetery near the chapel but
the old graves have no markers. He probably never left Cocke County, TN.
B. Pennsylvania. Abraham fought in the Revolution. The family arrived in Tennessee
about 1783. Frederick and Abraham are listed in Greene Co., NC land records in 1788
having purchased land on waters of the French Broad and Licking Creek. By 1788, Abraham
had purchased over 1000 acres. (See NC Land Grants in TN). He built his home in the area
that became Cocke Co., TN. One record has him in Knoxville in 1794, having deeded 300
acres to Joseph O'Haver. The land adjoining Jacob McConal, Frederick Swaggerty and
O'Neal.

O'Haver, the minister They later moved to Indiana
B. PA. Lived in Cocke Co., TN and married Matthew Nail (record in Jefferson Co?). Later
moved to AL
B. PA. Married Phoebe Potter in 1798, (Greene Co.) Cocke Co., TN by Joseph O'Haver. John
stayed in TN most of his life. He may have moved to Indiana later in life, 1830s. (Check
the 1830 & 40 Census Indexes for IN)
B. in PA. Md Delilia Meeks (?). James became a plantation owner and stayed in TN. It
appears that he inherited the original homestead. This was near O'Havers Chapel.
Married Anna about 1802-4 (Probably TN) and moved to AR ca 1824. He is found in Washington Co. in 1830 and in Benton County in 1840. His probate is found in Benton Co.,AR.
Probably born in Cocke or Rhea Co. Tennessee. Md. (1) Jane ? Clark abt 1826/7. She was
daughter of Lorenzo Newton Clark and Arabella J. They moved to Arkansas and are found in
the Pope County census in 1830 and in Johnson County by 1840. They had about eight known
children: Eliza L.; Nancy Jane; Lorenzo Newton Clark; Arabella J. Clark, Mary, Leutitia,
Sarah Anna, and Martha Elmina Swaggerty.
Jane died abt 1843/4 at Clarksville. John died 4 June 1849
at Clarksville, Johnson, AR. We have not yet located a probate record for John.

4. SARAH (1816/7 - 1870s)
B. TN. Married Pennington Ellington. They lived in Benton Co., AR
B. 1 Jan 1819 in TN. He md Mary Nail in Arkansas. He is listed as head of household in
the 1850 Benton Co. census. He md 2nd Julia Ann Goad. He died 5 Nov 1901 in Washington
Co., AR. He is buried at Mt. Comfort Cem.
Birthplace is uncertain as it was this year that the family moved to AR. He md 1) Emily J._
__ and 2) Sarah (?). In 1850 he is listed as head of household in Benton Co., AR so his
marriage record is probably there also. He died in Cedar Co. MO in 1868. (Check mgs
there ).
Sarah, the second wife, born 22 Apr 1812; died 4 Apr 1889 in Cedar Co., and buried at
Pankey Cem. She had been married first to Mr. Leeton and had five children by him.
She md Sampson Swaggerty Oct 1859. (The Stockton Journal, 1889)
Born in Arkansas 3 Apr 1829. He is listed as a head of household in the 1850 census of
Benton Co., AR so he was probably married there. He died 21 Aug 1887 in Leonardsville,
KS.
