The first child of Delila Sweaney was born ----------1878 in
Dallas Co., MO. She was probably named after her grandmother, Ann
Sweaney. Her mother died when she was about 14 and her Aunt Babe
raised her and her brother, Everett. There were many in the house-
hold as she was growing up in her teen years. Gertie Day was also
raised by "Granny" Bennett and they became like sisters. Rachel Gann
also kept Annie a lot when she was growing up. She was Babe's oldest
daughter.
She married 1st Asel McGrath Lopeman 2 Nov 1898 in Ill. (Bk
6, p. 347). He died 16 Apr 1908 and is buried at Lone Rock.
Ace and Annie had two children: Lula Lopeman b. 17 July 1899 and died
11 Feb 1900 in Joplin, MO; Una Lopeman. Una lived in Joplin and married
1) a Darnell; 2) Dewey Ohlhausen (b. 16 Jan 1898; died May 1975 at
Joplin, Jasper Co., MO. (from Gary Swift).
Anna J. married 2nd Ulysses S. Jennings. He was the son of
Murrell and Malinda Jane Jennings. He had married Cassie Hildebrand
(a dau. of Francis Lee) and was divorced from her. They had had 6
children before he married Annie. They are: Jim who md Pearl Marley
was at one time the director of Flatwoods Schools ca 1925.; Harley
who md Emma Wilson and lived in OK; Jesse who md Myrtle Pulley and
lived in Plad (Charley Wise said he used to make moonshine-now how
did he know?!); Charley born 14 June 1894 and died 27 Feb. 1901 in
Dallas Co., MO.; Eva who later lived in Picher, OK; and Ivy Jennings.
Anna and Ulysses had Ernie G. Jennings who lived at Miami, OK and at
Joplin, MO.
Annie and Ulysses lived for a while near Windyville, Mo. This
home was later the home of Clara Jones and her family. It had 3
rooms upstairs and 3 rooms downstairs. Later they moved to Picher,
Oklahoma where they were members of the Union Church. Ulysses purchased
places which he rented. He was also a sheriff.
PICHER,OKLA:--Mrs. Anna Jenning, 91 years old, 710 S. Picher Street, died at 7:30
o'clock Monday night at Miami Baptist hospital, where she had been a patient two
days.
Mrs. Jennings was born in Dallas County, MO, April 12, 1878, and had lived in
Picher since 1917. She was a member of the Union church here.
Surviving are a son, Ernie G. Jennings, Miami, OK; a dau. Mrs. Iva Powen, Albuquerque,
NM., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be announced
by the Paul Thomas funeral home, Picher.
