The third child of William A. and Elizabeth Emily Sweaney was born ca 1843 in Lawrence Co., TN. He was a private in Co. G. 8th Regt Cavalry MO. State Militia Volunteers during the Civil War. His homestead entry was #2690 at Booneville for land in Sec. 5, Twp ;34, Range 19 in the SW 1/4, 120 acres. This appears as the same land description as his father's. It is about 2 miles north of the Sweaney Cemetery on the Niangua. He never married. He died 31 Dec. 1883 in Dallas Co., MO. and is buried next to his father in the Sweaney Cem. His brother and sister purchased some of his homestead in 1900.
