On this 20th day of February AD 1856 personally appeared before me the undersigned a justice
of the peace in and for the county and state aforesaid duly authorized by law to administer
to others Nancy McClung, aged 68 years on the 25th day of April 1855 a resident of Franklin
County, Illinois and after being first duly sworn according to the law upon her oath says
that she is the widow of John McClung who was a private in the company commanded by Captain
Richard Johnson in the South Carolina Regulars under Adjutant General Pickens in the
Revolutionary War. That as to time of his service she cannot speak with certainty but thinks
that he served in all near about 21 months and was in the service when he ________ ______
_______ her said husband for his said Revolutionary service drew a pension and was on the
pension list roll at Nashville, Tennessee at the date of his death. That she was married to
the said John McClung in the county of St. Clair and state of Alabama on or about the 11th
day of October 1824 by one Burrell Greene a Justice of the Peace in said county and that
previous to the said marriage her name was Nancy Luster. That the said John McClung died in
the county of Sumner in the state of Tennessee on or about the 24th day of September AD 1844.
That she has not inter married but is still a widow. She further declares that she is now
drawing a pension from the United States as a widow of said John McClung that her name is
on the pension list roll of the Springfield, Illinois, agency. That her certificate No.
5129 was issued on the 23rd day of April AD 1855 under 2nd section act of 3rd July 1853 and
she therefore refers to the ______ on file in the department in support of her claim for a
pension to establish her right to bounty land. She further declares that she has never drawn
or applied for bounty land under any other act of congress neither does she believe she is
entitled to some bounty land under any former act. She makes this declaration for the
purpose of obtaining the land warrant to which she may be entitled under the act of the
3rd of March 1855.

Sworn and subscribed before me the day and year first above written and I hereby certify
that I am personally acquainted with the above named Nancy McClung and that I believe her
to be the identical person she represents herself to be and that she is about the age above
stated and I certify that I have no interest in her claim. I am not concerned directly or
indirectly in its prosecution.

This day personally appeared before me a justice of the peace in and for the said county,
John Jones and John McClung resident citizens of said county and after being duly sworn
according to law upon their oaths say that they were personally present and saw Nancy
McClung execute and swear to the foregoing declaration. That they are personally acquainted
with her and have been for at least the last twenty years and that they know her to be the
identical person she represents herself to be in the foregoing declaration and they further
swear that they have no interest in her claim for a land warrant and that said Nancy McClung
is still widowed and further they say not.

personally acquainted with the said John Jones and John McClung and that they are credible
witnesses and reside in the county of Franklin aforesaid.

I Thomas J. Mooneyham, clerk of the county court within and for the county and state
aforesaid do hereby certify that John D. Eubanks whose genuine signature appears to the
foregoing declaration and affidavit was at the time of signing the sworn and acting
Justice of the Peace in and for said county duly commissioned and qualified and as such
entitled to full faith and credit in all his official acts.
As testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal at said court house
at Benton this 21st day of February AD 1856.
