This indenture made the twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty-three between James McClung of the County of Limestone and State of Alabama of the first part and Alexander Tidford of the second part and James Montgomery, Trustee of the third part.

Witnesseth that the said James McClung for and in consideration of the sum of eighty-three dollars and eighty three and one fourth cents by note bearing states the twenty-third day of April 1821 and credited with the 30th Sept 1822 with eleven dollars and fifty cents and on 7th of March 1823 with seven dollars and fifty cents which the said James McClung is justly indebted to the said Alexander Tidford and honestly avers to same and pay to him and for the further consideration of the further sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said James Montgomery, Trustee, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said James McClung hath granted, bargained and sold and by this herewith doth grant bargain and sell with the said James Montgomery, Trustee, for the use of the said Alexander Tidford one certain negro boy slave named Abram about the age of ten years now at my __?__ two cows, one sow, two oxen, 2 hoes 2 plowes one mallot one bedstead and furniture two twenty-two tables one case aliston_d(?) one large kettle two ovens one pot one pair pins Gross(?) and pales bracks one set plates one set knives and forks to have and to hold the aforesaid Negro boy Adam(?) and the aforenamed articles with the said James Montgomery his heirs and assigns for the use aforesaid and the said James McClung bind himself, his executors and administrators to warrant and forever to defend aford and promises unto the said James Montgomery his heirs and assigns against the claim or demand of himself his heirs and other __ or . . .

Note: This James is the son of William and Euphemia Cunningham McClung of Blount Co., TN. He married Margaret Montgomery. Is this James her father? (McG:50-2).

March 1, 1828

Witness that John McClung of Limestone County, Alabama is justly indebted to Hugh McClung in the sum of $626.68 in consideration . . . "John McClung, father of Hugh and David McClung grants qtr section or lot ground known as the NorthWest quarter of Section 7 in Township N4 in Rangae N2W situate lying in the County of Madison, 155 acres and 25 hundred and also one Negro woman Kitty and Martha her daughter and one bay mare to Hugh and David McClung for (father) John McClung . . . to feed and clothe said John McClung for and during his natural life."
