Her marriage to Walter Fitz Other is indicated in many internet sources. However it is not backed by Burke's Peerage.  Additionally her daughter Nesta is documented to be the wife of Walter's son Gerald Fitz Walter which would not have been likely if Gerald's mother were Gwladus.  She may have been mother of some of Walter's children, instead of Beatrice?

2005015984. Hubert De MUNCHENSY Of Edwardstone, Sir was born about 1083 in Edwardstone, Suffolk, England. He died Bef Feb 1120-1121 in Abingdon Abbey, Berkshire, England (As A Monk). Hubert married Muriel De VALOGNES before 1116 in 2ND Husband 2ND Wife. [Parents]

HUBERT DE MUNCHENSY, possibly the same Hubert, but more probably his successor, lord of Edwardstone, in 1115 gave its church and 2/3 of the tithes of Staverton and Stanstead to Abingdon Abbey, and it was probably this Hubert who gave to Castleacre Priory 2/3 of his tithes of Clay and Holkham. The feudal importance of the family was increased by a grant from Henry I of some of the fees of Godric dapifer.

The donor of Edwardstone church became a monk at Abingdon, and married certainly twice, 1stly, possibly an heiress of Godric (b); later, Muriel, widow of the father of William DE BACHETONE, and daughter of Piers DE VALOIGNES, sheriff of Essex and Herts in 1086, by Aubrey, sister of Eudo dapifer.  [Complete Peerage IX:411-2, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]

(b) . . . Hubert's sons Gilbert, Hubert and Hugh appear to have been brothers of the whole blood; Warin, upon whom the Godric fees were settled, was possibly their whole brother.  Roger and Geoffrey were sons of Muriel de Valoignes.

2005015985. Muriel De VALOGNES was born about 1095 in Valognes, Cotentin/Manche, Normandy, France. She died. [Parents]

[Hubert de Munchensy m. 2ndly] Muriel, widow of the father of William DE BACHETONE, and daughter of Piers DE VALOIGNES, sheriff of Essex and Herts in 1086, by Aubrey, sister of Eudo dapifer.  [Complete Peerage IX:411-2, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]

Note: Rosie Bevan, in a reconstruction of the Valognes family has Muriel as a daughter of the Piers de Valognes who d. c1109, married to Albreda de St. Sauveur.  This would seem to make her granddaughter of the parents indicated by CP.  By my dates, she could be a late daughter of one generation or an early daughter of the next?

In 1141, during the struggle between the Empress Maud and Stephen I for the throne the former conferred the Earldom of Hereford on Miles of Gloucester, so-called from his father being hereditary Constable of the shire.  Only two years earlier the new Earl had supported Stephen, but it has been suggested that he went over to the Empress's in part because his overlord, the Earl of Gloucester, was one of Henry I's many bastard sons, hence Maud's half brother.  (Her generous gifts to Miles of land, houses, and castles, in addition to the Earldom, may have helped win him over.) [Burke's Peerage]

William II "Rufus" King of England granted the lordship of "Over Gwent" which included a castle at the mouth of the Genny where it joins the Usk, probably some time after 1088 to one Hamelin de Ballon, so called from his having been born at Ballon, in Maine.  Subsequent holders of Over Gwent or Abergavenny included the 1st and 2nd Earls of Hereford of the 1141 creation and the 2nd Earl's four younger brothers, for all of whom a shadowy family connection with Hamelin de Ballon has been claimed, though this is very hard, if not impossible, to sustain.  [Burke's Peerage (page 12) on the history of Abergavenny:]
