St. Joseph Parish started as St. John parish in 1865, with land donated by Joseph and Mary LaVasson. It became St. Joseph Parish on 30 November 1883. The first church was built in 1866. In 1888 a second church was built and the first church was donated to St. Mary of The Lake, in Bailey’s Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin. The Second Church was remodeled in 1890. The present Church has twin bell towers. It was dedicated on 14 November 1910.
