Johann Henrich Lang a citizen and local master locksmith from Heidelberg
at age 31 years, 3 months, and 14 days died on the 21st and was buried on the
23rd of Dec 1742 in Schoenau. His parents were Johannes Lang a citizen and wine
gardener at Heidelberg and his wife Catharina [nee unk]. [These dates indicate
Johann Henrich Lang was born abt 7 Sep 1711. However, please see comments.].
Comments:
Since Henrich's sister, Catharina, was born on the 26th of Aug 1711 in
Heidelberg, Henrich could not have been born on the 7th of Sep 1711 in Heidelberg.
Since Henrich's birth record was not found in the Heidelberg or Schoenau church
records, perhaps he was born somewhere else, maybe, like Switzerland.
Since Henrich died at such an early age and his birth record was not immediately
available in Schoenau, perhaps his parents erroneously reported his age as 31y.
3m. 14d. Maybe he was 32 or 33.
Since his parents Johann Lang and Catharina were not citizens of Baden [Germany]
in 1711, perhaps they were from another country like migrant workers from, maybe,
Switzerland.
Even though a marriage record was not found in the Heidelberg or Schoenau
church records, we presume Henrich married Catharina abt 1737. Catharina Kern's
parents were from Switzerland and as members of the Reformed Religion, they were
very fussy about who their daughter married. Perhaps, someone from Switzerland
would be appropriate; someone who was also a member of the Reformed Religion.
So, where were they married?
Even though it was recorded that Henrich was "from Heidelberg", it does not
mean he was born there.
Therefore, I propose that Johann Henrich Lang was born around the 7th of
Sep 1710 in Switzerland.

Anna Barbara Lang [was born at home on the Lindenbacher farm one mile south
of Schoenau abt the 13th and] was baptized on the 13th of Mar 1740 at home because
of weakness. Her parents were [Johann] Henrich Lang a citizen and local locksmith
and his wife [Anna] Catharina [Kern]. Her godparent was Anna Barbara Simon the
single daughter of Johann Daniel Simon a local shoemaker. Because of weakness,
Anna Barbara Lang soon died [about the 13th of Mar 1740 at home].

Georg Happes a farmer and member of the Lutheran Religion and Catharina [Kern
Lang] a member of the Reformed Religion and widow of Johann Henrich Lang a local
master locksmith. The blessed couple were married on the 28th of Dec 1744 in
Schoenau. His father was Nicolaus Happes a citizen and resident at Altneudorf
[2 miles north of Schoenau]. Her father was Johann [Christophel] Henrich Kern
of the Linnebach.

of the Happes Family to 1800 (Baltimore: Gateway Press, 1985), 001SW,p.10-13.
Georg [with a marriage symbol] 28 Dec 1744 Cathrine Lang nee Kern.
[Michael Haps and Elisabeth Zimmerman were the parents of Georg Happus.]
In the years following Elisabeth's death, Michael saw his five other children
reach maturity. His oldest son Georg was the next to marry. Although Michael
had once hoped that Georg would continue to farm his land and eventually inherit
it, Georg's interest lay elsewhere; he had fallen in love with the young widow
Catherina Lang from Schoenau. Herhusband Heinich Lang, Schoenau's master locksmith,
had recently died leaving Catherina with three [two] small children: Georg born
in August 1738, Barbara born [and died] in March 1740, and Friedrich born in
June 1741. Catherina and her children were now living on her father Heinrich
Kern's farm, the Linnebach, situated in the valley on the southern edge of Schoenau.
---And so, when Georg and 24-year-old catherina discussed marriage with her parents,
Catherina's mother insisted that the ceremony be conducted by a Reformed pastor
despite Georg's Luthern upbringing. They were married in December 1744 by Schoenau's
Pastor Nikolaus Schmalz..

AT HER FUNERAL.
Memoir of the married Sister Sarah Long who fell asleep peacefully at Friedberg
on Dec. 12, 1810.
Since our departed Sister did not herself leave any autobiographical material
behind her only the following can be said about her life. She was born in Feb.
1745 in Canestoga in Pennsylvania and was there baptized and brought up in the
Lutheran Church, enjoying the faithful care of her parents.

- Hoppes, Harry and Kern, Denise: Hoppes Generations.
At the encouragement of his two stepbrothers, young George's entire family
moved to western North Carolina in the mid-1760s. It was an exciting journey,
one that opened young George's eyes to sights he had heard about but had never
seen in his teenage years of domestic life and apprenticeship as a blacksmith.
George's father decided to make
their home in "Miller's Settlement" on Deep Creek, Surry County. At first, young
George wasn't sure that this was such a good idea because Christian Miller was
a rough, tough, German-speaking fellow who initially scared him. All that changed
rapidly, however, when George became attracted to young Elizabeth Miller, and
George's kid sister Barbara fell in love with Jacob Miller. Because George was
five years older than his next brother John, he spent considerable time helping
his father and mother set up their new home. Still, he found plenty of time for
his blacksmith activities. He and Elizabeth Miller were married as the turmoil
concerning the American Revolution continued to mount. Their first child, Anne,--.
Comments: The Elizabeth Miller that married George Heinrich Hoppes Jr. may
not have been the daughter of this Christian Miller because the daughter of this
Chritian Miller (Catharina Miller's father) may have married Mathias [Zimmerman]
Carpenter.
