Kinfolks
by Evelyn Flood
My husband's Greenhaw roots go deep and spread widely through
many Newton County and Searcy County, Arkansas families.
George W. Greenhaw, born 5 October 1839 in
Lawrence County, Tennessee, was my husband's
maternal great-great-grandfather.
When starting to write a Kinfolks column, have to gather many family
files as my husband was related to so very many Northern Arkansas
families.
One advantage of having my information written on family group sheets
is that I do not have to use the computer for information.
I can shuffle the family group sheets around while writing these
stories.
I am not collecting names just to have a collection, but really
believe each person has a story of their own.
My records show:
George's parents were Rebecca Ethridge and Ephriam B Greenhaw.
George was Rebecca Ethridge's son before her marriage to Ephriam,
and George was listed as Ethridge on an early census. He later adopted
the name Greenhaw.
It is said that George's real father was William Reddell.
Ephriam B. Greenhaw's parents were Greenberry Greenhaw
and Sally Bridges.
Ephriam had been married previously to Angeline Foster on
12 Sept 1837 in Lawrence County,Tennessee.
By his first wife Ephriam was the father of :
i:ELIZA JANE GREENHAW who married DANIEL HEFLEY.
ii: WILLIAM GREENHAW(wife unknown) who died before 1902 in
Dardanelle(Yell Co),Arkansas.
iii:EPHRIAM "UNCLE PACE" GREENHAW who married MARTHA HEFLEY.
Ephriam B. Greenhaw and Rebecca Ethridge were married on
12 March 1846 in Lawrence County, Tennessee.
Rebecca Ethridge was from the Mathew and Mary Greenhaw Ethridge family.
Rebecca's brothers and sisters were:
i:FRANKLIN ETHRIDGE who married NANCY ELIZABETH BUCHANAN.
ii:ALFRED ETHRIDGE who married PERSILLA REDDELL.
iii:WILLIAM HENRY ETHRIDGE who married:
