George Raymond Burdine was born on 12 May 1875 in Newton County, Arkansas, son of Nathaniel Burdine and Sarah J Pierce.

He married BETSY "Annie" ATKINSON on 23 January 1905 in Newton County, Arkansas. She was born on 4 July 1887, daughter of Thomas (William H.T.) Atkinson and Sarah E Bolin (Sarah was daughter of Elizabeth "Betsy" Nichols and Henry Bolin).

I have record of the following children:
(1) Ernie Lee Burdine born 19 Aug 1905 in Newton County, Arkansas. He married MARTHA MABEL HAMM on 7 July 1928 in Newton County.
Their children were Winnie Jean Burdine and Ernie "Jr." Burdine.
In 1978 Ernie Burdine lived at Rt 1 Box 890, McCloud, Oklahoma 74851.
Nothing further known.

(2)Vernie Dee Burdine born 1907 in Newton County,married VIRGIE BAKER.
Their children were: Jesse Burdine Butler, Violet Burdine Curtis and Oma Burdine Clark.

(3)Earl B Burdine born 2 Oct 1909 in Newton County.
He married MAMIE EDDINGS.
Have record of four children:
Earl Nathan Burdine, Mary Ann Burdine Madison Coonts , Harold Jean Burdine, and Betty "Earlene" Burdine.
Earl Burdine died 30 May 1981 and is buried in Smith Cemetery, Vendor, Arkansas.

(4)Niva Burdine,birthdate unknown, born in Newton County, married :
(1) JEFF PEOPLES and they had a son Raymond "Ray" Peoples.
Niva was only 13 when she married Jeff and was afraid to go back home, so spent her wedding night at Gladys and Hoyle Flood's home.

Niva and Jeff were divorced and she later married
(2) L. C. CONGO.

Niva is the last living child of George and Annie Atkinson Burdine and lives in Oklahoma. She attended the 1998 Burdine reunion.
Would like to have her address so I could write to her.

Lillie Coleman Burdine and Ray Peoples

(5)Rufus Burdine born 7 July 1912 in Newton County.

Rufus Burdine and Effie Lee DAVIS had a daughter
i:Patsy Ann Burdinewho married CHARLES BRUCE JONES.
Effie Davis was daughter of Eldridge DAVIS and Anna Mae PEOPLES.
Effie Davis later married ELVER SHATSWELL

Rufus married(1) DOROTHY "Dot"CRINER ,daughter of Joseph H Criner and Gracie Campbell.
Rufus and Dot's children were:
ii:Flona Burdine Smith,
iii:Robert Burdine, and
iv:a son that died at birth in February 1937.

Rufus married(2) LILLIE BELLE COLEMAN on 6 July 1941 in Newton County.

Lillie was the daughter of TEMPIE REEVES BROWN and JOHN COLEMAN.
Lillie's mother Tempie died when Lillie was three months old.
Tempie's sister Caroline Reeves Schrader and husband Henry Schrader raised Lillie.

Rufus and Lillie Belle had nine children:
v: Anna"Maxine"Burdine born 1944 who married:
(1) DALE FARMER(they divorced). Had son David Farmer born 1963 who married MELISSA COX and they have two children Justin and Lara Farmer
Maxine married :
(2) EDDIE EDGMAN who died of cancer and (3) CHARLES SHELTON.

vi:Ida Mae Burdine born 1946 who married LINOUS SMITH.
They have two sons: Stacy Lynn and Jeffery Allen Smith.
Stacy Smith married LISA PHILLIPS and they have one son Trevor and possibly their second child born by now.
Jeff Smith married LARA (maiden name unknown) and they have two children: Dalton and Sidney Smith.

vii:Raymond Lee "R.L." Burdine born 1948 who married
PATRICIA "Pat" RENFRO. He still lives on the old Nathaniel Burdine home place.

viii:Anna Jean Burdine ,born 1951 married LOUIE MONDAY with two children: Bradley "Brad" and Rebecca Monday.

ix:Mary Dee Burdine born 1953 who married :
(1)JAMES "Butch" HARRISON with two children:
Christina"Tina"Lee Wallace and James Michael Harrison.
James Michael married VALERIE YOUNG in 1996.
Mary Dee Burdine Harrison married (2)RONNIE CASEY.

x:George Earl Burdine born 1954 married
(1)TAMMY CAMPBELL with two children: George"Shawn" and Chastity Burdine.
George Earl Burdine married
(2) VERONICA CHORBIC with one son: Dustin Earl Burdine.

xi:Infant Son born and died in 1956.

xii:Niva Louene Burdine born 1959 married Larry RICKETTS with two daughters: Melissa Dawn Ricketts who married SHANE FLUD and
Stephanie Renee Burdine.

xiii: Rhonda Renee Burdine born 1963 who married PHILLIP VANDERPOOL.
Rhonda and Phillip have two daughters: Susan "Brittany" and Lacey Renee Vanderpool.

Children of Rufus and Lillie Burdine

Rufus Burdine died on 17 December 1969 and is buried in Smith Cemetery, Vendor(Newton County)Arkansas.

George Raymond Burdine died 10 April 1954 and is buried in the Smith Cemetery, Vendor,Arkansas.
Betsy"Annie"Atkinson Burdine died on 29 June 1940 and is also buried in Smith Cemetery.
