His grave has ivy growing around the edge
and is to the left of the Smith Cemetery gate, best I remember.
Emeline only weighed about 3 pounds at birth, while John weighed
about 7 pounds. Their mother Rachel Harris Flood was afraid Emeline
would get cold so she slept with Emeline closer to her.
Twin John caught cold and died when very young....apparently the

pneumonia.

Want to share this letter with you
Dear Evelyn
I am sorry I couldn't be of more help to you, but I just wanted you
to know, that I enjoyed hearing from you.
I lived with my granny Flood 2 or 3 years, after my father married
the second time, and Uncle Simon and Aunt Hester lived just about
one-fourth mile from granny.
I loved them dearly, and Lee, Howard and Obie and I played together
a lot. I was little older than they, but we had good times together.
Uncle Sime, we called him "Sime", was my favorite uncle.
I would like to see you and talk to you about old times, but you
probably would not appreciate it, as you are younger, and wouldn't
know the old time Big Creekers.
Well good luck with your genealogy, and God bless you and your family
From your far distant cousin,
Love
Mary Joe Reeves
I will be 89 March 29th
Time slipped by so fast and I wanted to visit with Mary Jo when I
visited in Newton County, but did not meet her in person.
Have always liked to visit with older folks.....even when I was a
young girl. Older folks are so interesting to talk to and full of
so many interesting facts and stories
