Philip Morgart, well-known retired rural mail carrier, died Tuesday afternoon, April 22, 1947, at his home, 325 East Penn Street, Bedford, death being attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Morgart and his wife had spent the winter in California, returning to their home two weeks ago. He was the son of Samuel and Sarah Ann (Beard) Morgart and was born at Bedford Feb. 26, 1876. He was three times married, the first union being with Sarah Eshelman, the second with Annie Diehl and the third with Mrs. Edith Diehl, who survives, with these children to the former marriages: Mrs. Ruth Trump of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Ray Fulton of Rutland, Vt., Mrs. Ralph Riegs of Galena, Tex., Mrs. Bettie Broemarkle of Hyndman, Robert, John B. and Frank, all of Bedford and one brother Frank Morgart of Endicott, N. Y. ----- MORGART-- P.M., 71, retired rural mail carrier and paperhanger; Apr. 22, 1947, in Bedford. Born Feb. 29, 1876, in Rainsburg, a son of Samuel and Sara Ann (Beard) Morgart. He was thrice married. His first two wives, Sara Eshelman and Anne Diehl, preceded him in death. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edith (Diehl) Morgart, and seven children--Mrs. Ruth Trump-, Pittsburgh; John, Robert and James P. Morgart, Bedford; Mrs. Ralph Riggs, Galena, Tex.; Mrs. Betty Markle, Hyndman, and Mrs. Rae Fulton, Rutland, Vt. A member of the Bedford Methodist Church. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Fred C. • Newspaper article: The Tyrone Herald, 26 Aug 1897, Tyrone, Blair, Pennsylvania. Philip Morgart, a young man of Rainsburg, Bedford county, rode to Everett on his wheel the other day and, in crossing Mount Dallas bridge on his return home, he lost his balance and fell a distance of about twenty-five feet to the creek below. He was badly bruised, but no bones were broken. He was conveyed to his home in a buggy. His escape from serious injury is marvelous.

He was born Feb. 26, 1876, in Rainsburg, a son of Samuel and Sara Ann (Beard) Morgart. He was a paper hanger and retired rural mail carrier. Mr. Morgart was married three times. His first wife, was Sarah Eshelman of Everett, his second wife, Annie Diehl and his third wife Mrs. Edith Diehl. He is survived by his third wife and these children: Mrs. Ruth Trump, Pittsburgh; Robert, John and James Morgart, Bedford; Mrs. Rae Fulton, Rutland, Vt.; Mrs. Ralph Riggs, Galena, Texas, and Mrs. Betty Brotemarkle, Hyndman. Also surviving is a brother Frank Morgart, Endicott, N. Y. Membership was held in the Bedford Methodist church. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Pate funeral home, the Rev. Bert Wynn officiating. Interment will be in Everett.
